The Sun Is Back In Town

about

I wrote this song- or the first verse, anyway- many many moons ago, on the Summer Solstice, when my hunny was due to return home from a loooooong tour with his band. It has come to mean even more since moving to a place (the Sierra foothills) with real winters. This year was the longest, nastiest winter of them all, so I feel like it's time to share this little ditty with the world. You can hear it as a song about the beginning of summer, or about any time when you realize that you can finally relax and let go-- at least for a season, or a moment-- when you realize that the hardest times are behind you now.

lyrics

Isn't it nice
The sun is back in town
Isn't it nice
That he's come back around
Isn't it nice
Those dark days are gone
And he'll be staying here all summer long

Isn't it nice
The birds sing at dawn
Isn't it nice
I've just got a t-shirt on
Isn't it nice
The snow is finally gone
And you'll be staying here all summer long

Isn't it nice
The sun is back in town
Isn't it nice
That he's come back around
Isn't it nice
Those dark days are gone
And we'll be staying here all summer long
